Thyroid Solutions

Symptoms & Causes

Thyroid hormone is the master regulator of energy production in the body. Too little (hypothyroidism) can cause sudden weight gain, fatigue, depression, feeling cold, cognitive impairment, and more.  Too much (hyperthyroidism) can cause sudden weight loss, anxiety, tremors, excessive sweating, and more. Thyroid imbalances can also lead to menstrual irregularities. Dysregulation of the thyroid gland can be caused by nutrition imbalances, underlying infections, environmental toxins, autoimmune conditions and other risk factors.

Testing & Treatment

The conventional way to assess thyroid status is by a TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) and maybe a FT4 (the inactive storage form, commonly taken as the medication levothyroxine.)

But many patients remain ill when using only these two labs to guide their medication. We offer more comprehensive testing. Some people have central hypothyroidism (with an inappropriately low TSH), or possibly deiodinase enzyme genetic SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) which impair the body’s ability to convert the FT4 into the active FT3 form. A more complete laboratory assessment includes TSH, FT4, FT3, and reverse T3.

Everyone is unique, and there are a wide range of therapeutic solutions, including lifestyle interventions, detoxification of heavy metals and mold, nutritional strategies, oral T3, Natural Dessicated Thyroid (NDT), and more. Nutrition and gut health play a key role. Treatments are personalized, and we look forward to getting you started on the right treatment for your unique case.
